Aranda™ is a compact, dwarf, cane-less Dianella with upright to slightly arching deep green foliage. Aranda™ has very tight rhizome growth with a small spread. Flowers are deep blue held just above the foliage. It has a high drought tolerance.
An easy to grow, compact tidy landscape gardening plant. If you want a Dianella to stay in a tidy clump, Aranda™ is an excellent choice. Available from Foliage First growers.
Dimensions: 250 to 300mm tall x 350mm wide. Aranda™ is a cane-less dwarf Dianella, with a more or less clumping habit. It has smooth deep green semi-gloss, gently arching foliage.
Flowers: Spring and summer. Deep blue coloured flower buds and star shaped flowers held among to slightly above the foliage, followed by purple berries.
Aspect: Full sun to 75% shade. Grows well in coastal humidity and inland climates. Full frost tolerance yet to be tested, it has shown evergreen frost hardiness to -5°C in Windsor NSW, with only some leaf discolouration.
Soil Types: Sandy loam, clay loam, free draining clay soils. Performs exceptionally in improved garden soils.
Mulch Type: No problems with any well composted, processed mulch type.
Uses: Ideal tidy border plant, very compact plant for mass planting.
